Responding to the 2022 Drought Crisis in Kajiado

The 2022 drought in Kenya, which severely affected Kajiado County and other arid regions, could not be ignored. As pastoral communities lost their livestock and livelihoods, many families faced the real threat of hunger and loss of life.

We could not sit back and watch vulnerable families suffer.
In November 2022, Tumaini Touch organized a food drive and raised KSh 60,000 through friends and well-wishers. Through two relief visits, we were able to provide food support to over 500 families, giving them something to put on the table during a very difficult period.

But beyond emergency relief, we sought a solution with lasting impact.
To help families rebuild their futures, Tumaini supported eight young people from the affected communities to apply for NITA vocational scholarships. Today, these youths are trained and skilled workers, earning livelihoods and supporting their families.

From emergency relief to restoring dignity through skills and opportunity, this journey reminds us that sustainable hope goes beyond today—it prepares families for tomorrow.
