Tumaini Scholar Profile – Lloyd Karuiru

On 15th January 2024, Lloyd Karuiru reported to Baricho High School with only KSh 10,000 from a well-wisher—no uniform, no personal supplies, and far from enough school fees.

Yet Lloyd was one of the top performers in Kangema Sub-County, Murang’a, earning a place in his dream school. His mother, worried about the cost, had secured admission at a nearby day school she hoped she could afford. When she learned the full fees required at Baricho, she prepared to take him back home.
But Lloyd broke down in tears, unwilling to give up on the opportunity he had worked so hard for.
That was the moment Tumaini Touch stepped in.

Two years later, Lloyd continues his education with renewed hope and determination. His journey reminds us that sometimes all a child needs is someone to stand in the gap. And truly, every shilling invested has been worth it.

Later, Eugene and Lloyd attended an academic clinic at Baricho High School, where they engaged with teachers and mentors to strengthen their study habits, address learning challenges, and set clear academic goals.

Each milestone reflects the heart of Tumaini Touch Foundation’s mission — restoring hope through education, mentorship, and empowerment. Eugene and Lloyd’s journey reminds us that when a child is supported, a future is transformed.
