Tumaini Scholar Profile – Eugene Macharia

On 15th January 2024, Eugene Macharia reported to Baricho High School with only KSh 5,000—his mother’s hard-earned savings from casual farm work. He had no uniform, no personal supplies, and nowhere near enough school fees.

A top performer in Kerugoya Sub-County, Kirinyaga County, Eugene had earned a place in his dream school. Many neighbors discouraged him, saying Baricho High School was beyond the reach of a needy family. But Eugene refused to give up. He presented himself at the school and pleaded for admission, believing that somehow, someone would come through for him.
That is when Tumaini Touch stepped in.

Two years later, Eugene continues his education with confidence and renewed hope, knowing he deserves the same opportunities as any other child. Every shilling invested has been worth it—and we eagerly look forward to seeing what the future holds for him.
